Bremerton, WA (April 15, 2025) – A high-speed solo-car crash on Veneta Avenue Saturday morning left a person dead and another hurt.

According to Bremerton police, the shocking incident happened at around 1:18 a.m. near Veneta Avenue and Broadway Avenue.

Reports say that a high-speed crash in Bremerton left one person dead and another seriously injured after a driver fled from an attempted police stop.

Authorities say that an officer saw a vehicle speeding eastbound on 6th Street near Montgomery Avenue and tried to initiate a traffic stop with lights and sirens. The vehicle did not stop, and the officer ended the pursuit in line with department policy.

Shortly after, emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash between Veneta Avenue and Broadway Avenue. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver was ejected from the vehicle and taken to a regional trauma center with serious injuries. Officers and a civilian pulled the trapped passenger from the burning vehicle, but the passenger died at the scene.

The Kitsap Interagency Traffic Team is investigating the incident.
