Three Lives Lost in High-Speed Multi-Vehicle Crash in Southwest Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (April 25, 2026) — 51-year-old Silvia Reyes was among three people who lost their lives following a high-speed crash involving multiple vehicles Thursday evening in southwest Bakersfield.

The collision happened around 6:45 p.m. along Harris Road at Summer Springs Drive. Authorities reported that three vehicles—a Toyota SUV, a Ford SUV, and a Honda sedan—were traveling eastbound when the crash unfolded.

Investigators determined that the Toyota struck the Ford from behind at a high rate of speed near the intersection, forcing the Ford into a secondary collision with the Honda.

A man and a woman inside the Ford died at the scene. Officials later identified them as 49-year-old Omar Zacarias and Reyes, both of Bakersfield. The Toyota driver, 34-year-old Sandra Lee Slaydon, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Two men inside the Honda sustained minor injuries and reported pain following the crash.
