Simranjit Kaur and Navneet Kaur Killed in Crash on Cedar and McKinley Avenues [Fresno, CA]

Juan Dominguez Dead, Francisco Portillo Suspect in Cedar Avenue Fiery Fresno Crash

 
Fresno, CA (March 22, 2021) – On Saturday, Simranjit Kaur, 28, Navneet Kaur, 20, and Juan Dominguez died a fatal fiery multi-vehicle crash on Cedar Avenue.
 
The deadly accident took place at about 11 p.m. near McKinley Avenue.
 
A black Chevrolet Camaro was traveling around 100 mph when it crashed with multiple cars as it attempted to flee from a deputy.
 
Unfortunately, at least seven vehicles were involved in the tragic crash, wherein five ended up consumed in flames.
 
Authorities reported three people died in the incident. At this time, authorities identified Fresno man Juan Dominguez, 54, as one of the deceased.
 
Later reports revealed the identity of the other two decedents, Simranjit Kaur, 28 of Huron, and Navneet Kaur, 20 of Fresno.

Police Identifies the Suspect

 
Officers identified Portillo as the Camaro driver. His girlfriend was also in the car when the accident happened.
 
Reports said a deputy noticed Portillo exited Highway 41 at fast speed before fishtailing onto McKinley Avenue.
 
So, the deputy turned on his vehicle’s emergency light and siren to issue a traffic stop for reckless driving. However, Portillo sped off eastbound.
 
The officer backed off from the pursuit around the intersection of First Street and McKinley Avenue after Portillo ran a red light.
 
Meanwhile, two blocks later, the deputy witnessed Portillo initiate a multi-vehicle crash. Subsequently, the crash caused an explosion at the busy Fresno intersection.
 
Immediately, rescuers rushed Portillo and his girlfriend to Community Regional Medical Center. They were both listed in critical but stable condition.
 
Moreover, officers said Portillo is expected to face vehicular manslaughter charges, along with other charges.
 
Furthermore, authorities are looking into whether drugs and alcohol were involved in the accident.
Also, rescuers also took another person to CRMC. Police said the victim also was in critical but stable condition.
 
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
