CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 6, 2025) – Sunday night, a person died in a devastating single-vehicle crash in Clifton Court Forebay.

The incident involving a single vehicle occurred at about 9:40 p.m. in the Clifton Court Forebay.

Officials said responding officers found a Toyota sedan overturned and submerged in the water.

According to CHP, the car had been traveling on a dirt road next to the reservoir when it went off the road for unknown reasons. It overturned after hitting several large rocks near the water’s edge.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, officials said.

CHP has not released further details about the driver. The investigation remains ongoing.

The crash happened near Clifton Court Forebay, a reservoir southwest of Stockton in eastern Contra Costa County.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
