CALAHAN COUNTY, TX (September 3, 2025) – Monday morning, a horrific single-vehicle crash on Highway 36 near US 283 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:00 a.m. on Highway 36 near US 283.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a vehicle veered off the road and struck a pole and multiple trees. Then, the sparks from the crash sparked a fire that spread to nearby grass.

Moreover, officers pronounced a passenger of the vehicle dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted the driver of the vehicle to a hospital with unknown injuries.
