1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Interstate 5 near Lerdo Highway

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 2, 2025) – Friday morning, a brutal single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Lerdo Highway killed one person.

The incident happened at around 5:38 a.m. on Interstate 5, north of Lerdo Highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser veered to the right into the number two lane and back into the number one lane. Then, the vehicle veered back to the right into the number two lane, continued off the roadway onto the shoulder, where it rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 32-year-old male front passenger of the vehicle dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the 30-year-old female driver of the vehicle to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued investigating the crash.
