Woman Killed, Driver Hurt in Solo Crash on Road 209 in Madera County

Madera County, CA (July 12, 2026) — On Monday, an 84-year-old woman lost her life following a single-vehicle crash on Road 209 in Madera County.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash along Road 209, just south of Road 406. Investigators said a 63-year-old man was driving a gray 2020 Kia Forte northbound when the vehicle approached a curve in the road. For reasons that remain under investigation, the car left the roadway, traveled onto the west shoulder, and struck an embankment.

The elderly passenger suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
