4 Hospitalized After Head-On Crash on Ramona Expressway in Nuevo
NUEVO, CA (December 12, 2025) — A head-on crash on Ramona Expressway involving a pickup truck and a Kia Optima injured six people and shut down part of the Thursday afternoon in the San Jacinto Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. approximately half a mile west of Lakeview Avenue.
The impact caused both vehicles to come to rest in the eastbound lanes of the expressway, leading to a full traffic stop in both directions.
Emergency crews from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived within 15 minutes and discovered several victims lying in the roadway. Others remained upright and alert.
Authorities identified a total of six injured individuals at the scene. Four of them were transported to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment of moderate to major injuries, while two declined additional medical attention.
A SigAlert was issued at 2:14 p.m. due to the complete closure of the eastbound lanes and growing traffic congestion. Westbound traffic resumed shortly after the crash, while eastbound lanes remained closed until roughly 5:00 p.m. as investigators worked at the scene.
The CHP is still determining what led to the collision.
