Police Investigate Crash on 91 Freeway at Central Avenue in Riverside

Riverside, CA (November 4, 2025) — A six-vehicle crash on 91 Freeway at Central Avenue left three people injured Tuesday afternoon and caused major traffic congestion through downtown Riverside.

The incident occurred around 1:38 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. An SUV, a pickup truck, and four sedans collided in or near the slow lane and the two-lane Central Avenue off-ramp—a known bottleneck for westbound traffic.

Riverside Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and found all vehicles blocking the freeway exit. 

Several had moderate damage, and three people sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.

CHP officers closed the slow lane and the Central Avenue off-ramp, issuing a Sigalert at 2:02 p.m. The closure caused significant delays for drivers navigating the area.

Tow trucks removed some of the vehicles involved, while others were able to drive away from the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
