Woman Critically Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash Near WT in Canyon

Canyon, TX (August 15, 2026) — On Thursday evening, a woman remains in critical condition after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 87 near West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.

Canyon police said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. when a 2018 Toyota traveling south on U.S. 87 left the roadway and struck a traffic light pole at the intersection of U.S. 87 and Russell Long Boulevard.

A man from Amarillo drove the Toyota, which also carried a woman from Tulia. Both occupants went to a local hospital for treatment. Doctors later released the driver, while the passenger remained in critical condition.

The Canyon Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
