Police Investigate Crash on South Overland Trail in Fort Collins
Fort Collins, CO (July 29, 2025) – Fort Collins police are actively investigating a single-vehicle crash on South Overland Trail that left multiple occupants with serious injuries on the night of July 28.
Shortly before 11 p.m., officers received reports that a 2019 Genesis G70 had veered off the east side of South Overland Trail and struck a tree in the 2200 block.
According to a police news release, five individuals were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Four of them sustained life-threatening or serious injuries.
Emergency crews extricated several occupants from the wreckage before transporting them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Fort Collins Police Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling Team arrived at the scene to conduct a full investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle had been traveling southbound on South Overland Trail, made a U-turn at Larimer County Road 42C, and was heading northbound when it left the roadway and collided with the tree.
Authorities closed South Overland Trail between Larimer County Road 42C and West Stuart Street while investigators examined the scene.
They are currently evaluating whether speed or driver impairment contributed to the crash.
