Injuries Reported in Henderson County Auto Accident near Enchanted Oaks and State Highway 198

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (April 1, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, a startling 2-vehicle crash near Enchanted Oaks and State Highway 198 injured 1 person.

The incident happened at about 12:10 p.m. near the Enchanted Oaks curve on State Highway 198, according to Payne Springs Fire Rescue.

Upon responders’ arrival, witnesses helped one driver out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the rescue said that the person escaped the scene on foot.

Moreover, another man was still in the vehicle, without a seatbelt and unconscious.

Volunteers freed the man from the wreckage through the front windshield, and he was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler.

Fortunately, the driver of the second vehicle was uninjured and declined treatment, as per the rescue team.

State Highway 198 was temporarily closed while crews cleared the scene. There is no additional information available regarding the driver who fled the scene.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
