Oxnard Man Hospitalized after Startling 2-Vehicle Crash on Rice Avenue [Ventura County, CA]

Injuries Reported in Ventura County Auto Accident on Rice Avenue and Channel Islands Boulevard

VENTURA COUNTY, CA (July 15, 2026) – Thursday night, a 25-year-old Oxnard man was hospitalized after a startling 2-vehicle crash on Rice Avenue.

The DUI crash happened at about 9:20 p.m. on Rice Avenue, north of Channel Islands Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 25-year-old Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle crash on Rice Avenue.

Investigators said the man was driving a black Jeep Cherokee southbound in the No. 1 lane when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle drifted into the No. 2 lane and struck the rear of a black Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 37-year-old woman.

The Jeep driver sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Chevrolet and her 35-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to Ventura County Medical Center.

CHP said the Jeep driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP Ventura Area office.
