Maricopa Auto Accident on Smith-Enke Road

MARICOPA, AZ (March 1, 2026) – Wednesday noon, a startling 2-vehicle crash on Smith-Enke Road led to lane closures.

The incident happened around noon after a black sedan and a dark gray Jeep crashed north of the intersection at Smith-Enke Road, near the turning lanes from Chipotle and Starbucks.

Northbound John Wayne Parkway was reduced to one lane following the crash.

A Jeep was seen resting on top of a sedan’s hood, with airbags deployed.

Police spokesperson Monica Williams said northbound traffic was limited to one lane, and the right-turn lane from Smith-Enke was temporarily closed as police and fire crews worked at the scene. A tow truck arrived around 12:15 p.m.

It was not immediately clear whether the drivers were injured. Two people were seen standing on a nearby sidewalk, and Williams said Maricopa Fire personnel were evaluating injuries as of 12:23 p.m.
