POWAY, CA (September 8, 2026) – Early Sunday night, a startling car crash on 12342 Poway Road led to multiple injuries.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on 12342 Poway Road.

A silver BMW crashed through a grocery store in Poway, injuring three people, according to the Poway Fire Department.

Poway Fire Battalion Chief Rodney Ortiz said all three victims were taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that they were in stable condition.

Employees and customers were evacuated from the store following the crash. Firefighters and deputies remained at the scene to remove the vehicle, assess the building, and check for possible electrical issues.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with deputies, the sheriff’s office said. Officials have not determined what caused the crash, and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.

The incident remains under investigation.
