Injuries Reported in Santa Rosa Auto Accident on 2000 Pioneer Way

SANTA ROSA, CA (September 29, 2026) – Sunday night, Ovidio Pichinte-Laguan was arrested after a startling hit-and-run crash on 2000 Pioneer Way.

The incident happened at about 5:33 p.m. in the 2000 block of Pioneer Way.

20-year-old Ovidio Pichinte-Laguan was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and a probation violation, the Santa Rosa Police Department said.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle striking a bicyclist. The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with significant injuries. Witnesses provided police with photos of the vehicle, and less than 10 minutes later, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle near College and Dutton avenues.

The officer followed the vehicle toward Highway 101 and found it among several vehicles involved in a separate crash near the freeway ramps. Pichinte-Laguan and a passenger were detained and taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Police said a DUI investigation determined Pichinte-Laguan was driving the vehicle. He was also on probation from a previous DUI conviction at the time of his arrest.
