1 Person Hospitalized in Hillcrest Pedestrian Accident on 1000 University Avenue

HILLCREST, CA (November 21, 2023) – Sunday night, a startling pedestrian crash on 1000 University Avenue injured one person.

Reports said that the incident happened at around 8:41 p.m. in the 1000 block of University Avenue.

According to Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department, a westbound silver 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 struck a male pedestrian who was walking westbound straddling the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes. Then, the suspect vehicle pulled over after the crash, ran away, and returned before running away again. Also, a witness chased the suspect and walked him back to the scene.

Moreover, responders transported the victim, a 35-year-old man, to a hospital with a skull fracture and brain bleed.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the San Diego Police Department continued to investigate the crash.
