New Braunfels, TX (February 24, 2026) — On Monday evening, a fatal pedestrian crash on North Seguin Avenue claimed the life of 60-year-old Stephanie Madzy of New Braunfels.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 5:45 p.m. in the 200 block of North Seguin Avenue in New Braunfels.

Police and fire crews arrived to find Madzy critically injured after a dump truck struck her while she was crossing near the intersection with Mill Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the dump truck driver, 60-year-old Jude T. Jones, had stopped at a red light but failed to yield the right of way to pedestrians before striking Madzy.

Authorities transported the driver to a local hospital and later booked him into Comal County Jail on a charge of criminally negligent homicide.
