Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver after Crash on Chandler Avenue in Ahwatukee

Ahwatukee, AZ (October 15, 2023) – Steve Elwell continues to search for the hit-and-run driver after a crash on Chandler Avenue.

The crash happened on October 3 at around 4:45 a.m. about two miles from his home.

Elwell said a pastor who came by to help him said a driver in a black muscle car was driving aggressively. The pastor, who was traveling eastbound in the right lane on Chandler Boulevard, could tell the driver was trying to pass him. The pastor told Elwell that he switched to the left lane and watched as the black car passed him and rammed Elwell. The driver of the car did not stop.

Elwell got a concussion, five broken ribs, serious bruises like one near the left side of his waist, and cuts and scrapes. His left foot is also swollen.

Elwell said the pastor only saw part of the plate number, 0345. They believe the car was a black 2020 Dodge Challenger. If anyone has any information that could help locate the driver, you’re asked to call Phoenix Police or the detective on the case at (602)262-4505.
