Upshur County, TX (December 24, 2025) — A 15-year-old passenger lost their life Sunday night after a high-speed police chase ended in a violent crash and the arrest of 18-year-old Steve Reneau.

According to authorities, the crash happened in the 3300 block of Chipmunk Road after Reneau fled a traffic stop initiated by an Upshur County deputy near State Highway 155 and Apricot Road.

Investigators reported that Reneau refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit through Gilmer, traveling north on State Highway 271 at speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour and later surpassing 100 miles per hour.
