Steven Puckett Injured in US 285 Deadly Crash [Reeves County, TX]

Reeves County, TX (February 27, 2025) – Steven Puckett, a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado driver, was injured in a US 285 deadly crash Tuesday morning.

It was around 6:53 a.m. when the three-vehicle crash happened on the northbound lanes of the highway.

According to the authorities, a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Brandon Ruiz, 26, of Pharr, was travelling south on US 285.

At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Melynda Kathlene Beeson, 49, of Cleveland, Texas, was northbound on the same freeway. Steven Puckett was following Beeson in a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado.

Investigators said Ruiz crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck Puckett and Beeson. 

Responding officers declared Brandon Ruiz deceased at the scene while Puckett was rushed to Reeves Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Melynda Kathlene Beeson was not hurt in the collision. 

All the involved drivers were wearing seatbelts when the traffic accident happened.
