2 Other Students Hospitalized After ATV Crash on Anderson County Road in Cayuga
CAYUGA, TX (September 3, 2026)– A Cayuga Middle School student died from injuries sustained in an ATV four-wheeler crash on Anderson County Road on Thursday, while two other students were hospitalized, according to Cayuga Independent School District.
Cayuga ISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Satterwhite announced the student’s death in a statement released September 3, 2026.
Satterwhite said the student died from injuries suffered in the ATV accident and confirmed that two additional students required hospitalization.
Authorities and school officials had not released the identities of the students or additional details regarding how the crash occurred.
In his statement, Satterwhite expressed condolences to the student’s family and acknowledged the profound impact the loss would have on classmates, friends, teachers, staff members, and the wider Cayuga community.
The district said administrators planned to meet with staff and students on September 4 to share confirmed information and provide guidance as the school community copes with the tragedy.
Cayuga ISD also arranged for ministers, professional grief counselors, personnel from the Anderson County Special Education Cooperative, and mental health service ACCESS to provide support for students.
School officials asked the community to continue supporting the deceased student’s family and to keep the two hospitalized students in their thoughts as they recover.
Funeral arrangements were expected to be shared through the district’s social media channels once finalized.
Further information about the ATV crash and the conditions of the two injured students was not immediately available.
Sweet Lawyers extends our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. May the bereaved find solace and strength in this extremely trying time.
