Suliman Alshibli Hurt in Deadly 2-Car Crash on Highway 87 [Dalhart, TX]

Dalhart, TX (June 17, 2025) – 21-year-old Suliman Alshibli of Richardson was injured in a fatal crash on Highway 87 that killed 27-year-old Yobani Cardova-Hernandez of Dalhart.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly collision happened on U.S. Highway 87 late Sunday night at around 11:52 p.m.

Reports say that the wrong-way crash on US 87 killed one man and seriously injured another.

Authorities say that Cardova-Hernandez drove a 2014 Chevrolet Impala northwest in the south eastbound lanes of US 87. His vehicle collided head-on with a 2018 Freightliner truck driven by Alshibli.

The vehicles struck each other left headlight to left headlight, then veered into the center median, overturned, and caught fire.

Emergency personnel pronounced Cardova-Hernandez dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Alshibli to Coon Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Both drivers had been wearing seat belts.

At the time of the crash, the speed limit was 75 mph, and weather and road conditions were clear and dry.

The Texas Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
