HOUSTON, TX (August 13, 2026)— Authorities arrested a driver accused of causing a multi-vehicle crash on Beamer Road and FM 2351 and fleeing the scene Thursday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred shortly before 7 a.m. and involved at least seven vehicles.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection, where several heavily damaged vehicles were scattered across the roadway.

A gray car sustained significant front-end damage.

Robert Lewis, a teacher who was driving to work, told ABC13 that he was stopped at a red light when another vehicle struck traffic and triggered a chain-reaction collision.

At least one man suffered injuries serious enough to require transportation to a hospital. Lewis reportedly provided aid to the injured man before emergency medical personnel arrived.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Baldwin said investigators found no indication that the driver accused of causing the crash applied his brakes before the collision.

Authorities said the driver exited his vehicle and ran into a nearby wooded area when officers arrived. Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Houston Police Department established a perimeter and searched the surrounding area.

Investigators said the suspect later went to a gas station and attempted to find someone who could give him a ride. Officers located and arrested him at approximately 9 a.m.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and determine what charges, if any, may be appropriate.

Officials have not released additional information about the condition of the person transported to the hospital.
