Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 5 Left 1 Hurt [DuPont, WA]

DuPont, WA (November 11, 2025) — A suspected DUI driver caused a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 that injured one person and backed up northbound traffic for more than five hours early Sunday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 2:15 a.m. between the Nisqually Bridge and Exit 116, the Mounts Road/Old Nisqually exit.

Reports say that a 36-year-old woman from Everett allegedly crashed her vehicle into the back of an SUV traveling northbound.

The impact sent the SUV rolling into a right-side ditch, landing on its roof, while the woman’s car stopped in a left-side ditch. A 23-year-old passenger from Hawaii riding in the SUV suffered injuries and was taken to Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The SUV’s driver and the suspect were unhurt.

Troopers arrested the Everett woman on suspicion of vehicular assault and driving under the influence. Traffic in the area was affected for more than five hours as crews cleared the scene.
