Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 880 Claim Lives [San Leandro, CA]

Two Men Killed, Woman Injured in Deadly Collision on I-880 in San Leandro

San Leandro, CA (March 23, 2026) — Early Saturday morning, 2 men lost their lives, and a woman suffered injuries after a suspected DUI crash on Interstate 880 in San Leandro.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. near the Davis Street exit. Authorities reported that a black Nissan Maxima veered off the roadway and slammed into a large signpost, leaving the vehicle wedged between the structure and a guardrail.

The driver and a male passenger sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. A woman who was also inside the car survived the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. She is expected to recover.

Investigators believe impairment from alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the crash. Officials also indicated that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances.
