SUV Driver Injured in Bus Crash on FM 2219 [Canyon, TX]

Canyon ISD School Bus Collision in Canyon Results in Injuries

Canyon, TX (August 26, 2026) – One person sustained injuries following a bus crash on FM 2219 Monday afternoon.

Police said a Canyon ISD school bus was on its regular route when the crash happened west of the Interstate 27 overpass.

Investigators determined that the school bus carrying four students stopped at the I-27 service road, but did not yield the right of way to an SUV when it turned left onto FM 2219.

As a result, the SUV then struck the school bus.

Rescuers rushed the SUV driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said all the students and the bus driver were not hurt in the crash.

When you’re behind the wheel, remember—you’re not alone out there. Every time you drive, you’re part of a community that shares the road. That’s why it’s so important to stay alert, drive responsibly, and respect others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you; it keeps your loved ones, neighbors, and even total strangers safe too.

If we all do our part—slow down, stay focused, and avoid distractions—we can make the roads safer for everyone.

And don’t forget the simplest safety tip of all: always buckle up. Whether you’re the driver or a passenger, wearing your seatbelt is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in a crash. Sweet Lawyers encourages everyone to make it a habit—every trip, every time.

Driving under the influence puts everyone on the road at risk, including law enforcement officers. Always choose a sober driver and stay within speed limits to prevent life-altering crashes.

File a Personal Injury Claim in Case of Vehicle Crash

A personal injury claim following a traffic collision is a legal process that allows an injured party to seek compensation for physical, emotional, and financial harm caused by the accident. These claims arise when a driver’s negligence, recklessness, or intentional actions lead to an accident resulting in injuries.

The first step in pursuing a personal injury claim is to establish fault. This normally involved gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, traffic camera footage, and photographs of the accident scene. A skilled attorney from Sweet Lawyers can help establish who was responsible for the accident, which is indeed, necessary for determining liability.

Once fault is established, the injured party can then pursue compensation for damages which may include but are not limited to medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering. Consequently, medical documentation and expert testimony are essential for proving the extent of the injuries and their impact on the victim’s life.

Meanwhile, it’s important to note that the statute of limitations, or the time frame within which a personal injury claim must be filed, varies by state. Meaning if a claim is not filed within this window, the victim and the family of the victim may lose the right to seek compensation.

A personal injury claim in case of a traffic collision can be complex, but it offers an essential avenue that helps the victims to recover damages and hold negligent drivers accountable.
