Taryn Collins Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Barrow Street [Abilene, TX]

Abilene, TX (August 5, 2026) — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in south Abilene as Taryn Collins, 19, of Merkel, Texas.

The fatal collision happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Barrow Street and South 9th Street. Police said Collins was riding northbound on Barrow Street when an SUV pulled onto the roadway from a stop sign. The motorcycle collided with the driver’s side door of the SUV, ejecting the rider.

Collins suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Emergency crews rescued the SUV driver, who became trapped inside the vehicle. She and another occupant were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators continue to examine the cause of the crash, and the intersection remained closed while authorities processed the scene.
