Tavarshea Daveon Sims and Shane Demeair Taylor Die in I-35 2-Vehicle Crash [Belton, TX]

Belton, TX (August 22, 2026) – Tavarshea Daveon Sims, a 31-year-old driver from Killeen, and her passenger, Shane Demeair Taylor, 39, of Cameron, were killed in an I-35 vehicle crash Thursday night.

The deadly crash happened past 8 p.m. near 294 mile marker.

According to the authorities, a 2016 Nissan Altima driven by a 23-year-old Killeen man and Sims’ 2026 Hyundai Elantra were both northbound on the freeway.

Troopers said the Nissan made an unsafe lane change, drove across all lanes from the inside to the outside lane. 

As a result, the Nissan collided with the Hyundai, and the later then struck the guardrail with its front end. 

Sims was unrestrained during the impact and was thrown from the vehicle. The authorities declared Sims deceased at the crash scene.

Rescuers rushed Taylor to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple were he succumbed to his injuries. 

Additionally, a female passenger in the Hyundai was rushed to the hospital with incapacitating injuries as was the Nissan’s driver.

Troopers are conducting a further investigation into the fatal crash.
