Teen Dies in Horrific Crash on Lost Hills Road [Kern County, CA]

Kern County, CA(July 14, 2026) — A 17-year-old Lost Hills resident lost his life Friday night after a shocking crash on Lost Hills Road when a van struck the motorized scooter he was riding.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened at approximately 11:23 p.m. south of King Street.

Investigators said a 63-year-old Sacramento man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Express van northbound when it collided with the rear of the scooter, which was traveling in the same direction.

The teenage rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.

The CHP Buttonwillow Area office continues to investigate and asks anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
