Driver Injured in Fatal  High-Speed Crash on Memorial Drive in Houston

Houston, TX (Dec. 4, 2025) — A 17-year-old driver lost his life Thursday night in a high-speed crash on Memorial Drive and Picnic Lane, Houston police reported.

Emergency responders from Houston police and fire departments arrived at the scene around 8:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash. 

Investigators determined that the teen’s vehicle was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive when it rear-ended another car, causing that vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic.

Following the initial impact, the teen’s vehicle continued off the roadway, colliding violently with a power pole and a concrete wall. 

The force of the crash proved fatal, and the teenage driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

One occupant from the second vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby trauma center for further treatment. 

Their current condition has not been disclosed.

Houston police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the speed and other contributing factors.
