Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Gunn Avenue in Whittier

WHITTIER, CA (November 6, 2025)– A devastating crash on Gunn Avenue in Halloween night claimed the life of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Whittier, according to early reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The crash occurred around 8:35 p.m. on October 31, 2025, at the intersection of Gunn Avenue and Trumball Street. 

Emergency responders arrived to find a pedestrian down in the roadway after being hit by a vehicle. 

The driver involved remained at the scene and was reported to be fully cooperating with law enforcement.

Witnesses at the scene told authorities the victim — believed to be a teenager — was walking through a marked crosswalk with another individual when a vehicle struck them with enough force to throw the victim approximately 75 feet. 

Life-saving efforts were immediately initiated, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with CPR in progress.

CHP later confirmed through CAD Incident #2232 that the crash had turned fatal. However, the identity of the victim has not been officially released, and additional details remain under investigation.
