Teens Involved in Fatal Crash on Pinecrest Road [Trinity County, TX]

Trinity County, TX (March 3, 2026) — A 13-year-old student was injured, and a 17-year-old student lost his life Saturday afternoon in a tragic crash on Pinecrest Road.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 4:56 p.m. just south of Goober Gap Road.

Authorities reported that the vehicle was traveling north at an unsafe speed for road conditions when it veered off the left side of the roadway. The car struck a concrete culvert and overturned.

First responders pronounced the 17-year-old driver dead at the scene. Emergency crews airlifted the 13-year-old passenger to a hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Officials have not released the names of the students. The school district said it is preparing support services for students and staff as they cope with the devastating loss.
