Police Investigate Tesla Crashes 300 Feet Off Mulholland Highway in Malibu
MALIBU, CA (May 29, 2026)— Firefighters rescued two people Friday morning after a Tesla crashed off Mulholland Highway in Malibu.
The crash was reported around 7:05 a.m. in the 2500 block of Mulholland Highway.
Video from the scene showed a white Tesla down a steep, rugged hillside among trees and brush. Officials said the vehicle came to rest about 300 feet below the roadway.
Malibu Search and Rescue and the California Highway Patrol responded to the crash. Crews conducted traffic control on Mulholland Highway between Bardman Avenue and an area just north of Pacific Coast Highway while the rescue operation continued.
A helicopter lowered a medic to the wreckage to reach the occupants. Rescue crews hoisted one person back up to the roadway.
Officials said a second person was trapped in the vehicle and was being treated by the medic at the crash site.
At least one of the patients was conscious and speaking with rescuers.
Authorities have not released additional details about the victims’ conditions or what caused the Tesla to leave the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation.
