Thawon Pho Dead in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 168

Troopers Search for Suspect Driver in Fresno Deadly Crash

Fresno, CA (August 23, 2025) – 27-year-old Thawon Pho of Fresno was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 168 late Friday night.

It was before midnight when the collision happened on the westbound freeway, west of Shields Avenue.

CHP said Pho was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle in the middle lane of the freeway when a speeding Hyundai Elantra behind Pho rear-ended his motorcycle.

The impact threw Pho onto the windshield of the Hyundai.

Moreover, the Hyundai continued west pushing the empty motorcycle that had separated. The motorcycle then rested in the fast lane.

The driver continued to right shoulder of Highway 168 at McKinley Avenue, wherein the suspect driver fled and abandoned the vehicle.

Due to extremely dark conditions of the road, Pho was hit by other vehicles.

Sadly, Pho was declared deceased at the scene.

The other drivers who struck Pho cooperated with the investigation.

Meanwhile, the hit-and-run suspect remains outstanding. Troopers ask anyone who may have details or video footage related to this fatal crash to contact the Fresno Area CHP office at 559-262-0400.
