Theadore Jones Killed in Horrific Vehicle Crash on Pendleton Way [Clark County, WA]

Clark County, WA (December 30, 2024) On Sunday afternoon, Theadore Jones was pronounce dead after a horrific vehicle crash on Pendleton Way.

According to the Washougal police (WPD), the deadly incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Pendleton Way.

Reports say that an 85-year-old Washougal man, Jesse T. Shehan, reportedly struck two people with his car on while they were assisting him in parking, tragically resulting in one death.

Authorities say that Shehan, who suffers from dementia and takes numerous medications including depressants and opioids, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday. His initial hearing for vehicular homicide was postponed due to concerns about his cognitive state.

Washougal police responded around 2:45 p.m. to a crash on Pendleton Way, where they found Jones pinned beneath Shehan’s Subaru Legacy. Emergency crews freed Jones and rushed him to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Witness Tamera Strunk recounted that she and Jones approached Shehan to help him park after observing him struggling. As Jones stood in front of the car to guide Shehan, the vehicle lurched forward, striking a parked car, hitting Jones, and dragging him 30 to 45 feet. Strunk was also hit but escaped injury.

The Subaru stopped after colliding with a second parked car. Shehan, who remained behind the wheel, reportedly told police he does not use drugs or alcohol, and a breath test confirmed his blood-alcohol level was zero. However, officers noted his pinpoint pupils, slow reactions, and difficulty following instructions.

A drug recognition expert concluded Shehan appeared to be under the influence of depressants and opioids, consistent with his prescribed medications. Toxicology results are pending, and Shehan was cleared at a hospital before being booked into Clark County Jail. He has been placed under supervised release with electronic home monitoring and is scheduled for arraignment on January 6.
