3 People Hospitalized After Crash at 51st Street and Ward Parkway in Kansas City

Kansas City, MO (October 10, 2025) – Three people were hospitalized Thursday night following a wrong-way head-on crash at 51st Street and Ward Parkway.

The collision occurred around 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of 51st Street and Ward Parkway. 

Authorities say a gray Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Ward Parkway when it struck a red Chevrolet Impala head-on.

The red Impala, which had been traveling in the correct direction, was occupied by a driver and front-seat passenger—both of whom were transported to a hospital in critical condition. 

The driver of the gray Impala was also taken to the hospital and is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police have not yet confirmed whether impairment or distraction played a role.
