Police Investigate Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash at Apple Valley Road and Yucca Loma Road

APPLE VALLEY, CA (July 30, 2026)— Three people were killed, and three others suffered major injuries in a three-vehicle crash at Apple Valley Road late Wednesday night, according to the Apple Valley Police Department.

The crash was reported at approximately 11:42 p.m. on July 29, 2026.

Firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene and found multiple occupants trapped inside the vehicles. Emergency crews extricated several victims as five ground ambulances responded to transport the injured.

Authorities identified the vehicles involved as a 2015 Dodge Caravan, a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan, and a 2019 Toyota Highlander.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on Apple Valley Road when its driver allegedly failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection with Yucca Loma Road. The Dodge then collided broadside with the eastbound Volkswagen Tiguan, which subsequently struck a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound in the adjacent lane.

Three passengers inside the Volkswagen Tiguan—an adult woman and two juveniles—were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional passengers in the Tiguan sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan also suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was evaluated and treated at the scene.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to investigate the collision. Investigators stated that drugs or alcohol may have been a contributing factor. Authorities have not announced any arrests or filed charges.

Officials closed the intersection for several hours while investigators documented the scene.

The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their next of kin.
