Police Investigate Crash on Missouri Route 87 in Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, MO (August 20, 2026)— Three drivers suffered critical injuries Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Missouri Route 87, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. on MO 87, just south of MO 187.

According to the MSHP crash report, a 2013 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. The impact caused the Explorer to overturn.

The collision also forced the Chevrolet off the right side of the roadway, where a northbound 2011 Ford Fusion struck it.

Authorities identified the injured drivers as a 32-year-old man from Mendon who was driving the Explorer, a 75-year-old woman from Salisbury who was driving the Chevrolet, and a 22-year-old man from Glasgow who was driving the Ford Fusion.

MSHP reported that all three drivers sustained critical injuries.

Emergency personnel transported the 75-year-old Chevrolet driver and the 22-year-old Fusion driver to University Hospital for treatment.

According to the patrol, the 32-year-old Explorer driver declined transportation to a hospital from the crash scene despite being listed as critically injured.

Authorities have not released additional information about the current conditions of those involved or what caused the Explorer to cross into the opposite lane.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
