Police Investigate Three-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 65 Near Chillicothe in Livingston

Livingston, MO (July 15, 2026) – Two people suffered serious injuries, and a 5-year-old girl sustained minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 65 Tuesday afternoon in Livingston County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and Livingston County Road 224, about four miles north of Chillicothe.

Investigators said a 28-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on U.S. 65 when she attempted to turn left onto Livingston County Road 224. According to the crash report, the Tahoe entered the path of a southbound 2006 Peterbilt 365.

The Peterbilt struck the passenger side of the Tahoe, causing the SUV to rotate counterclockwise before its front fender collided with the driver’s side of a northbound 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan.

After the impact, the Tahoe traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest facing west. The Peterbilt left the west side of the highway and stopped in a nearby field, while the Dodge came to rest partially blocking the northbound lane of U.S. 65.

Emergency responders transported the 77-year-old driver of the Dodge to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The 28-year-old Tahoe driver also suffered serious injuries. She was taken to Hedrick Medical Center before being airlifted to Truman Medical Center.

A 5-year-old girl riding in the Tahoe sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment.

The Peterbilt driver, a 52-year-old man, was not reported to be injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
