Timothy Bradford Cole Arrested in Fatal Crash Near Ellis Avenue [Fountain Valley, CA]

Fountain Valley, CA (December 4, 2024) On Monday evening, police arrested 43-year-old Timothy Bradford Cole of Huntington Beach after a deadly rollover crash near Ellis Avenue.

According to the Fountain Valley Police Department (FVPD), the horrific crash happened at about 10 p.m. near Ellis Avenue and Magnolia Street.

A high-speed police chase in Fountain Valley on Monday evening resulted in a fatal rollover crash, killing one person and sending three others to the hospital. The incident started with an alleged arson and ended when the suspect driver collided with another vehicle.

Authorities identified the suspect as 43-year-old Timothy Bradford Cole of Huntington Beach. Police say the events began at 7:30 p.m. with a house fire on Arches Court. Following a domestic dispute, Cole allegedly set a bush on fire, which spread to the residence. Residents extinguished the flames and called police.

Officers later found Cole’s unoccupied Dodge Ram in a Brookhurst Street parking lot. Around 10 p.m., Cole returned to the vehicle, and police initiated a brief pursuit. Within one minute, Cole ran a red light at the intersection of Ellis Avenue and Magnolia Street and struck a white BMW X3.

The crash killed a 25-year-old female passenger in the BMW, who was pronounced dead en route to the hospital. Two other BMW occupants remain hospitalized—one in critical condition and the other in stable condition. Cole, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, is also hospitalized.

Photos from the scene show the mangled BMW resting on a curb and Cole’s overturned truck hundreds of feet away. Charges against Cole are pending, according to Fountain Valley Police.
