Teen Driver Injured, 18-Year-Old Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on State Highway 136
Potter County, TX (May 27, 2025) — 18-year-old Tori Bunch of Panhandle died in a head-on crash that shut down part of State Highway 136 near El Rancho Road in Potter County on Tuesday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2016 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it crashed head-on with a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by 18-year-old Tori Dakota Bunch of Panhandle.
Authorities said the impact caused the pickup truck to catch fire. Several Good Samaritans reportedly pulled the 17-year-old driver from the burning vehicle before emergency crews arrived.
Bunch suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenage driver of the Ford F-150 sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
DPS also reported a secondary collision after another southbound vehicle struck the rear right side of the Ford F-150. That driver was not hurt.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
