Toyota Driver Injured in I-10 Deadly Crash [Indio, CA]

Indio, CA (February 26, 2026) – A Toyota driver was injured following an I-10 deadly crash early Tuesday morning.

It was before 5 a.m. when the fatal crash happened east of Dillon Road.

The accident report stated that a Nissan, traveling wrong-way, collided head-on with a Toyota.

Rescuers located one vehicle pinned against the center divider that needed to be extricated.

Immediately, the medical team rushed the Toyota driver to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The Nissan driver was declared deceased at the crash scene. Troopers withheld identity pending notification of next of kin.

CHP suspects the Nissan driver of being impaired during the collision.

Both of the drivers were the only occupant of each vehicle.
