According to Austin police, the shocking incident happened at around 6 a.m. near Menchaca Road and Prather Lane.

Police reported that the driver stayed at the scene while authorities investigated. The injured pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Austin police temporarily closed Menchaca Road and blocked southbound access from South Lamar Boulevard during the investigation. The road reopened around 7:50 a.m.
