Two Drivers Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash in Independence

Independence, MO (May 18, 2025) — On Saturday morning, two people suffered serious injuries early Saturday morning after a head-on collision on 23rd Street in Independence, Missouri.

According to the Independence Police Department, the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on 23rd Street. Investigators said a Mitsubishi sedan traveling east crossed into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Jeep Wrangler.

Emergency crews removed both drivers from the damaged vehicles and transported them to a nearby hospital. Authorities said the Mitsubishi driver sustained life-threatening injuries, while the Jeep driver suffered serious injuries.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
