Traffic Collision on Interstate 45 Led to Injuries [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (December 25, 2025) — A wrong-way collision on Interstate 45 early Thursday morning left two drivers trapped in their vehicles and resulted in a DWI arrest in Houston.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. along southbound I-45 just north of Dallas Street.

Houston police and fire crews responded to reports of a major accident and found two heavily damaged vehicles—one stopped in the traffic lanes and another hanging over the left side of the freeway.

Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles when officers arrived. Police broke a window and rescued the driver of a red car that was high-centered on the median before firefighters reached the scene. Houston Fire Department crews later extricated the second driver without complications.

Authorities took a woman into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Investigators believe the crash occurred after a vehicle entered the freeway traveling the wrong direction. Both drivers suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
