E-Bike Rider Killed After Dump Truck Collision in San Jose

San Jose, CA (September 6, 2026) — A man riding an e-bike died Thursday morning after a horrific collision on Tully Road when a dump truck struck him in East San Jose.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Tully Road near Lanai Avenue, just east of U.S. Highway 101.

Investigators determined that both the dump truck and bicyclist were traveling west on Tully Road when the truck hit the rider in the bike lane.

Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. The dump truck driver remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Authorities do not currently believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.

The crash marked San Jose’s 32nd fatal traffic collision and traffic-related death of 2026. Authorities have not yet released the bicyclist’s identity, pending notification of his family.
