Tragic 3-Car Crash on FM-39 Kills Jonathan Chesnut [Normangee, TX]

Normangee, TX (March 19, 2025) – 49-year-old Jonathan Chesnut of Canyon Lake died while another driver was seriously injured after a tragic crash on FM-39.

According to authorities, the fatal three-vehicle crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on FM-39 near County Road 484.

Reports say that the three-vehicle collision near Normangee on Friday afternoon claimed the life of Chesnut.

Authorities say that a 2018 semi-truck had stopped in the northbound lane to turn left onto County Road 484.

Meanwhile, a 2006 GMC, also traveling northbound, failed to control its speed and struck the back left side of the semi-truck. The GMC then veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2025 Honda CRV.

Emergency responders pronounced Chesnut, the Honda CRV driver, dead at the scene.

The GMC driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Joseph in Bryan. The semi-truck driver was not injured.

Authorities continue investigating the crash.
