Houston, TX (December 20, 2024) On Thursday afternoon, a person was killed and at least 2 people were hurt in a tragic 5-vehicle collision on Katy Freeway.

According to the Houston Fire Department (HFD), the deadly crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on the Katy Freeway.

Reports say that the major crash left one person dead and at least two others injured.

Authorities say that the accident began when a vehicle in the HOV lane attempted to switch lanes, colliding with another car. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and land in the main lanes of the freeway, where additional vehicles struck it.

The crash involved a METRO bus and three other vehicles, as confirmed by METRO’s preliminary investigation. Houston Fire Department responders reported that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while at least two others were taken to the hospital with injuries.
