Tragic Collision on Highway 247 Kills ShanShan Li [Lucerne Valley, CA]

Lucerne Valley, CA (May 9, 2025) — 39-year-old ShanShan Li of Los Angeles died in a head-on collision on Highway 247 involving a dump truck and a Tesla. The highway was shut down part of the time near Lucerne Valley.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:50 a.m. east of Stony Ridge Road in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County. Investigators said an eastbound Kenworth T680 dump truck carrying dry cement collided head-on with a westbound Tesla Model 3 after the Tesla reportedly crossed into the opposite lane for reasons still under investigation.

The Tesla driver, identified as Li of, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Following the crash, officials closed Highway 247 in both directions between Stony Ridge Road and Old Victor Road. Southbound lanes reopened shortly before 2 p.m., while northbound lanes remained shut down until after 6 p.m.
